Cookie Policy

Last updated: 26 October 2026

This policy explains the cookies and similar storage Talaskill uses, why, and how you can control them. It adds detail to Section 12 of our Privacy Policy.

In short: we use only a few first-party cookies, which the site needs or which help us understand, in aggregate, how people find us. We use no advertising cookies and no third-party trackers.

1. What cookies and local storage are

A cookie is a small piece of text that a website asks your browser to keep and send back on later visits. Local storage is a similar place in your browser where a website can keep small settings; unlike a cookie, it is not sent to the website with each visit.

2. The cookies we use

All of them are set by Talaskill itself (first-party), on Talaskill's own address:

  • session_token (necessary): keeps you signed in. It is set when you sign in, removed when you sign out, and expires after 30 days at most. Page scripts cannot read it, and on the live site it is sent only over a secure connection.
  • NEXT_LOCALE (necessary): remembers the language you are using, so pages open in it. It is deleted when you close the browser.
  • attribution_data (measurement, first-party): records the page you first landed on, the site that sent you, and any campaign details in the link. If you create an account, it is linked to the account once, so we can see in aggregate which channels lead to real signups and hires. It is kept for 90 days, is never shared or used for advertising, and page scripts cannot read it.

3. Settings kept in your browser

These stay on your device and are never sent to us:

  • theme: your choice of a light or dark look.
  • suggest-field, welcome-goal and welcome-done: the field and goal you picked on the welcome page, so that suggestions match them.
  • freePeriod: whether the launch free period is on, so that prices are not shown by mistake.
  • App files: if you install Talaskill as an app, some pages and files are kept on your device so that a simple page can be shown when you are offline.

4. What we do not use

We use no advertising cookies, no social-media pixels, no cross-site tracking and no third-party analytics. We do not sell or share cookie data.

5. Other companies' cookies

When paid features are on and you choose to pay, the payment window is provided by PayPal, which may set its own cookies under its own cookie policy. If you open a link to another website, that website's own cookie rules apply.

6. Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser's settings. If you block session_token or NEXT_LOCALE, you cannot stay signed in and your language may not be remembered. Blocking attribution_data does not change how the site works. You can also clear local storage in your browser's settings, and you can see and delete attribution data linked to your account on your Privacy page.

If we ever add a cookie that needs your consent, we will ask for it before setting the cookie.

7. Changes and contact

We will update this policy when the cookies we use change; the date at the top shows the latest version. Questions: Talaskill1@gmail.com.
