Terms of Use

Last updated: 27 October 2026 (security incidents, force majeure, limits of liability, reporting content and general terms)

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Talaskill ("the Service"), operated by Omar Alnawasrah ("we," "us," "the Operator"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference.

If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation (for example, as an employer account), you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms, and "you" refers to both you and the organisation.

1. Acceptance of these Terms

You accept these Terms when you create an account, and again whenever we ask you to re-confirm acceptance after a material update. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction if higher, to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide during registration is accurate.

3. Description of the Service

Talaskill lets candidates build a verified skills profile — self-reported claims, assessments, projects, and optional video evidence — resolved into an evidence-backed status for each skill. Candidates can generate CVs, issue revocable, scoped credentials that anyone can check without an account, and export a portable, cryptographically signed Verifiable Credential. Employers can post roles, receive applications, and see a match against the skills a candidate chose to share.

The Service also has a community, where members share tips, interview and exam experiences, articles, files and links, ask and answer questions, and list courses, events and volunteering by country and field. Using the community is subject to these Terms and to our Community Rules, which form part of them.

The Service evolves. We may add, change, or remove features, and we will describe material changes to these Terms in Section 19.

4. Account registration and security

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your password confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

Use a strong password that you do not use anywhere else, and turn on two-step verification where it is offered. We will never ask for your password by email, message or phone. We are not responsible for loss caused by someone else using your password or your devices, unless it results from our own failure to take reasonable security measures.

5. Your content and the licence you grant us

You own the content you submit — your profile, CV content, assessment answers, projects, and any video you upload. By submitting it, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, process, and display that content solely to operate the Service and to fulfil the sharing choices you make (for example, showing a credential's contents to a verifier you chose to send a link to). This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except where a copy must be retained for a limited period for the reasons described in the Privacy Policy.

Community content is public by nature. When you share a post, answer, file or link in the community, you also grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, publish and distribute it on the Service, and to let search engines and other services show it (for example, in search results and in a link preview with an image), for as long as it stays on the Service. You confirm that you have the right to share it, including any file or text written by someone else. Deleting a post ends this licence for the future; copies already made by search engines or by people who saw it are outside our control.

You are solely responsible for the accuracy of what you submit. Claiming a skill or achievement you do not genuinely have is a misuse of the Service under Section 6, and the value of every credential on the platform depends on that not happening.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to: attempt to bypass, defeat, or manipulate the assessment integrity or scoring systems; submit content you know to be false, including video evidence that is not genuinely you; scrape, harvest, or bulk-extract data from the Service; probe, test, or bypass the access controls on a credential, share link, or account that is not yours; impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation; use the Service to violate applicable law, including anti-discrimination and data-protection law; or interfere with the Service's normal operation (including its rate limits, which exist to keep the Service usable and secure for everyone).

In the community, you also agree to follow the Community Rules. In particular, you agree not to: advertise, spam or ask for money; post scams, fake job offers or misleading information; share anyone's personal information without their consent; post hateful, harassing, sexual or illegal content; share copies of exam or test questions, or anything else meant to help people cheat; share harmful files, or someone else's work without permission; or post a course, event or volunteering opportunity, or speak for an organisation, without being entitled to.

To keep the community safe, posts and answers are reviewed automatically when they are shared, and some are held until a moderator decides; a post that several members report is hidden until a moderator looks at it. We, and the members we choose as moderators, may hold, hide or remove content that breaks these Terms or the Community Rules, or remove only the part that does (such as someone's phone number), and we may limit or end an account's access to the community. We tell the author when a post is removed, with the reason where possible. Information in the community is shared by members: it is not checked by us and is not professional advice.

We may investigate suspected violations and may suspend or terminate access for a violation, consistent with Section 17.

7. Assessment integrity monitoring — candidate notice

When you take a timed assessment, the Service records response timing and session-behaviour signals to help detect automated or dishonest completion, as described in Privacy Policy Section 3. This monitoring does not claim to catch all dishonest behaviour with certainty, and a flagged attempt is subject to review rather than an automatic, unreviewable penalty. By taking an assessment, you consent to this monitoring for that attempt.

If you think a test question is wrong, you can report it from the test. Reports are reviewed by a person; a question found to be wrong may be paused or corrected, and the answers it affected re-marked fairly. Reporting in bad faith, or in order to learn the answers, is a misuse of the Service.

8. Credentials and verification — what they do and do not prove

A credential you issue confirms that we hold specific evidence about specific skills, resolved live at the moment someone checks it. It is not, and does not claim to be, an identity check: it cannot confirm that the person presenting a credential link or file is the person named in it. A cryptographically signed Verifiable Credential's signature proves the file was genuinely issued by us and has not been altered — it does not, by itself, prove it is currently still active; a live status check is required for that, which anyone can run on Talaskill's credential check page (/verify/check).

You can revoke a credential at any time. Revocation removes what a link or newly-issued export discloses going forward; it does not retroactively alter a file already downloaded, whose signature will still verify — see the credentials documentation referenced above for why that is correct, expected behaviour rather than a flaw.

9. Additional terms for employers

If you use the Service as an employer, you agree to: use match scores and shared evidence only for their intended purpose of informing a human hiring decision, never as the sole or final basis for an automated adverse decision about a candidate; comply independently with any law applicable to your own use of automated or AI-assisted employment tools, including candidate-notice and bias-audit obligations under laws such as New York City's Local Law 144 or the EU AI Act, which apply to you as the employer making the decision and are not satisfied by anything we do on our end; not attempt to identify, contact, or re-purpose data about a candidate beyond what they chose to share with you for a specific application or credential; and not resell, redistribute, or bulk-export candidate data obtained through the Service.

We do not guarantee that any candidate will apply to your postings, that any match will result in a hire, or that any assessment result predicts job performance — see Section 14.

10. AI-assisted features

Any AI-assisted feature is opt-in and off by default. Its output is a suggestion, not a fact, and is built with explicit instructions not to invent an employer, job title, date, or qualification you did not provide — but no AI system is error-free. Review any AI-generated text before relying on it or including it in a document you submit elsewhere.

11. Fees

Basic use of the Service is free. Some features are paid, for example one-time CV downloads, a Pro plan for job seekers, a Business plan for employers, and purchases and subscriptions for creators' content; the current prices are shown on the pricing page before you pay. During the launch period, every feature is free and nothing can be bought.

Payments are made through PayPal, in US dollars, and are also subject to PayPal's terms. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel; you can cancel at any time from your account page and keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. A price change applies only to new purchases. If something went wrong with a payment, contact us and we will look into it; this does not limit any refund right you have under the law of your country, or PayPal's buyer protection.

Creators receive what fans pay, minus the platform fee shown on the pricing page. Earnings can be withdrawn to the creator's PayPal account after the holding period that covers refunds, and after review; a payment that is refunded or reversed is taken back from the creator's earnings.

12. Our intellectual property

The Service's software, design, and branding (including the "Talaskill" name) belong to the Operator or its licensors. Nothing in these Terms transfers that ownership to you. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from the Service except as the Service's own features (like exporting your own CV or Verifiable Credential) expressly allow.

13. Third-party links and services

The Service may link to or integrate with third-party sites or services (for example, an AI provider you have opted into). We do not control and are not responsible for third-party content or practices; review their own terms and privacy policies separately.

Links and files shared in the community come from members. We check them for known dangers, but we do not check or endorse their content, and a link opens another website that is not ours.

14. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure, that any assessment or matching result is accurate or predictive of future performance, or that any employment outcome will result from using the Service.

Content provided by others — job listings, company pages, community posts, answers, links and files — is the responsibility of whoever provided it. We do not verify every job offer or employer, and we are not a party to any agreement between a candidate and an employer. Check an offer independently before you share sensitive documents or pay anything; a genuine employer will never ask you to pay to apply.

The Service is not a storage or backup service. We take regular backups to protect the Service, but you should keep your own copies of anything important to you, such as your CV, certificates and project files. The results of automatic features — assessment scores, matching, CV language checks and machine translations — are aids, not professional advice; review them before you rely on them.

15. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited under the law of your jurisdiction.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Operator's total liability for all claims arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service, in any twelve-month period, is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars (USD 100).

Any claim arising from these Terms or the Service must be brought within one year after the facts giving rise to it became known to you, or could reasonably have become known to you, unless the law that applies to you requires a longer period.

These limits do not apply to liability for fraud, wilful misconduct or gross negligence, to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or to any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including your rights as a consumer.

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold the Operator harmless from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of applicable law, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

17. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time through the Privacy Dashboard. We may suspend or terminate your access for a violation of Section 6, for legal reasons, or to protect the Service or its users, with notice where reasonably possible. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 12, 14, 15, 16, and 18) continue to apply after your account is closed.

Sections 20, 21 and 23 also continue to apply after your account is closed.

18. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Jordan, except where mandatory local consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring a claim in your own place of residence instead.

19. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service changes. The "Last updated" date reflects the latest revision. For a material change, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you before it takes effect and may ask you to re-confirm acceptance; continued use after a non-material update constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

20. Security incidents

We protect the Service with reasonable technical and organisational measures suited to the data we hold, as described in Section 11 of the Privacy Policy. No system connected to the internet can be made completely secure.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for loss or damage caused by unauthorised access to the Service or to your data by a third party — for example hacking, malware, a cyberattack or a denial-of-service attack — where we had taken reasonable security measures and the incident was not caused by our gross negligence or wilful misconduct.

If a security incident affects your personal data, we will act promptly to contain it, assess its impact and restore the Service, and we will notify you and the competent authorities where the law requires, as described in the Privacy Policy.

If you find a security weakness, report it to us privately at the address in Section 24 and give us reasonable time to fix it before you disclose it. Do not access other people's data, disrupt the Service, or test it in ways that could harm others. A good-faith report that follows these rules is not a breach of these Terms.

21. Force majeure

We are not responsible for any delay or failure to perform that is caused by events beyond our reasonable control. These include natural disasters, fire, flood, epidemics, war, terrorism, civil unrest, strikes, acts or orders of governments or regulators, failures of power or of the internet, failures or outages of hosting, cloud, payment or other third-party providers, and cyberattacks that could not reasonably have been prevented.

While such an event lasts, the obligations it affects are suspended. We will make reasonable efforts to limit its effects, keep you informed and restore the Service as soon as reasonably possible. If a paid feature is unavailable for a long time because of such an event, contact us and we will consider a fair remedy, such as extending your subscription.

22. Reporting illegal content and intellectual property

If you believe that content on the Service is illegal, infringes your copyright or other rights, or breaks the Community Rules, report it with the report button next to the content, or by email to the address in Section 24. Include where the content is, why you believe it is unlawful or infringing, your name and contact details and, for intellectual property, a statement that you own the right or are authorised to act for its owner.

We review reports promptly. We may remove or restrict the content, warn or suspend the account that posted it, or take no action if the report is not well founded. We tell the person who posted the content what we decided and why, unless the law or safety prevents it, and they can ask us to review the decision. Repeated or serious infringement leads to the account being closed.

Knowingly false or abusive reports are a breach of these Terms. Nothing in this Section prevents anyone from going to a court or a competent authority.

23. General provisions

Entire agreement: these Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, the Community Rules, the Cookie Policy, the Refund and Cancellation Policy and, for employers, the Data Processing Terms, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.

Severability: if any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, it is enforced to the greatest extent permitted, and the other provisions remain in full force.

No waiver: if we do not enforce a provision at a given time, we have not waived our right to enforce it later.

Assignment: you may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our written consent. We may transfer ours as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of the Service, provided your rights under these Terms and the Privacy Policy are not reduced.

Notices: we may send you notices by email to the address on your account or by a message in the Service. Notices to us must be sent to the email address in Section 24.

Relationship: nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, employment or agency relationship between you and us.

Language: these Terms are written in Arabic and English and translated into other languages. If a translation differs from the Arabic or English version, those versions prevail; if the Arabic and English versions differ, the Arabic version prevails, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
